If you are starting from scratch, this course is designed to help you obtain your Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) as quickly as possible. The program includes a full day of classroom lectures and practical demonstrations on Vehicle Inspections intended to help prepare you for a state-administered Vehicle Inspection CDL skills test.
You will have free access to a state-approved online curriculum developed to help you meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrations (FMCSA) new Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements and equip you with the knowledge and confidence for a safe and successful career. The online curriculum includes Basic Operation, Safe Operating Procedures, Advanced Operating Practices, Vehicle Systems and Reporting Malfunctions, Non-Driving Activities along with up-to-date information on Hours of Service, Hazardous Materials, Cargo Securement, and Onboard Technology.
After passing the State Driver's Licensing Agency's (SDLA) knowledge tests and Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination, you will contact one of our experienced tractor-trailer driving instructors to schedule eight (8) hours of instruction on Vehicle Inspections and Basic Vehicle Control, and (21) hours of On-road Driving. Once you are confident of your readiness, a driving instructor will schedule an official state skills test and accompany you in a MGCC vehicle to the approved CDL testing site to complete a skills test.
